Charges pending in serious motor vehicle collision that closed Highway 7

oppOn January 10th, 2015 at approximately 6:15 am the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving serious injuries on Highway 7 in the Town of Mississippi Mills near Tatlock road.

A tractor trailer was travelling on Highway 7 eastbound when it struck a small westbound passenger vehicle head-on.  Two off-duty OPP officers were almost immediately on scene to assist.  Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 25-year-old female from Ottawa, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 39-year-old male from Belleville, was also taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Highway 7 was closed for 16 hours while OPP officers continued the investigation into the serious collision.  OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
