June, July and August feature stellar new exhibitions by 3 artists with unique perspectives on art-making.
Please join us for the Openings each month, which are popular and lively. While you’re in Almonte, experience the charming atmosphere, shops and restaurants of the downtown core.
June 3-28: SUSIE OSLER – Memento Mori, Memento Anima recent ceramics and mixed-media
Among other things, Susie is a ceramic artist, founder of Fieldwork Project, The Humm green page columnist and self-confessed bird nerd. This exhibition expresses her love of birds, her observations of bird life and death, correlations between the health of animals in the wild and food production, the symbolism of bird “spirits inhabiting the verge of earthly and heavenly realms – animating the air with movement and song”.
Opening Friday June 5, 7-9pm
June 30-August 2: STEFAN THOMPSON – Leaf People a collection of new shapings and paintings
Those familiar with Stefan’s work know to expect the unexpected. Here is an artist who is able to peer into the lives of animals. Once you’ve seen his compositions of inter-twined figures, you’ll be enticed by this incredible symbiotic relationship. Through his beautifully rendered drawings, paintings and carvings (all made with found materials and home-made non-toxic paints), he depicts a world of creatures as they exist in all their innate wildness.
Opening Friday July 3, 7-9pm
