Mill-WindowMy sister Janet has devised another entertaining front window display. You will need to come to the store to learn about our secret $2.00 books available with any purchase.

This week Debbie McNeill, our wonderful helper and a voracious reader, will lead a Mystery Readers’ Night. She will  share her recommendations and lead a discussion about the various types of books in this genre.  Participants are encouraged to share their suggestions, bring a book to trade or sit silently and take it all in!  Plan to attend on Thursday May 8th at 7:00pm

Ottawa award winning author Mary Jane Maffini has created 3 different mystery series.  Mary Jane will be in the store on Saturday May 17th from 1:30 – 3:00 to sign copies of her books and answer questions about her experiences as a writer.

At the end of the month, Robynne Eagan and Heather Phaneuf are running a mystery writing program for 9-12 year olds. Spaces are limited and need to be reserved by contacting christena.holden@gmail.com   This is part of the Unplugged 4 SchoolBOX initiative.

For those of you who can cram in a quick read, you are welcome to join the book club which meets this Wednesday May 7th at 7:00 to discuss one of my favourite books entitled The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell.

New books arrive daily. Some other new additions to the store include a small selection of children’s books en francais, new Usborne sticker books to keep little ones happy, and Sandra Boynton’s charming greeting cards. We anticipate that the new Terry Fallis book which releases at the end of the month will be very popular.  Call us to reserve your copy!

Debbie will be in charge while Terry and I are escaping for the long weekend in Bermuda. We will be spending lots of time reading books and hope to bring back new suggestions for you upon our return.

We thank you for leaving the comfort of your cosy homes to venture out to shop at Mill Street Books.Think warm thoughts and sunshine!
