My town’s got GREAT talent!

by Noreen Young

IMPACT PERCUSSION was the big winner at Saturday night’s “My Town’s Got Talent” The six young drummers, Aaron Francis, Jason Koster, Gavin Deutscher, Wesley Albert, Liam Mansfield and Robin Gawn, brought the house down with their energetic performance.  Bill Serson, their Director, said later that he “couldn’t be more proud of them or pleased for them.”

Fiddler Danny Albert came second and singer Kasha Lehovich won third prize.

“My Town’s Got Talent” took place at the Almonte and District High School.  Its title sponsor was Metrolandmedia and all proceeds were in support of the United Way of Lanark County.  Jeff Gourgon, who was Artistic Director for the production, also did a very fine job as MC.

The young talent that had previously been auditioned and selected came from all over Lanark County.  Fifteen different acts were presented at the show and from these the five finalists were selected by the judges.  The finalists, Impact Percussion, Danny Albert, Kasha Lehovich, Hayley Hanks and Lisa Phinney, then did a second selection for the enthusiastic audience.  It was the audience who voted and made the final selection.
