North Lanark +55 Senior Summer Games for 2018

The local +55 Senior Summer Games will be held from the end of April to the middle of June in venues in Almonte & Carleton Place.

Every second year Ontario wide games are held with a regional one on the other years.  Our district will be hosting the Regional games for Eastern Ontario on August 15, 2019 so that is a huge project where  many volunteers will be needed because hundreds of competitors are anticipated.

This year the Ontario Games will be on August 10-12 at Mississauga -for the first time on a weekend to better suit those people still in the workforce. There will be a bus going from here and fund raising by the local district will allow a subsidy to those going.

The gold medal winners locally will be eligible and since each person can only play in one event, often the silver and bronze winners get a chance too.

The registration forms will be available at the local Legions and Rec. Centers or online at the OSGA+55 website. Press the Tab for Districts and choose 7A(North Lanark) to access the registration and waiver forms. Barry Pascoe is the registrar.

The registration fee of $20 is for the whole year beginning on April 1,2018 . It allows one to play in as many of the almost 20 games they can handle. The aim is to keep seniors active and it gives you a chance to try a new game. Washer toss is fast replacing horseshoes as an easier throw game so come out and give it a try!

The District 7A Annual meeting is at 10 am on Friday, June 29 followed by a banquet at noon served by the Carleton Place Legion volunteers. The always delicious banquet still only costs $17 so you can include both items on the one cheque if you wish. Return the completed forms and cheque to the Carleton Place Legion or Bonnie at the Almonte Old Town Hall.
