More shopping, more temples. Here’s a shop that specializes in handpainted umbrellas. And we visited a weaving studio. A monk in his golden robe. A nun arranging some flowers. These are the quarters where the apprentice monks stay while they are in training. It’s a fairly spartan life, of course. The elephant has been a major work animal in Thailand for eons, and it also figures prominently in temple architecture. Bangkok was getting hot and crowded, so we went down to the island of Phuket for a rest from the rigors of this extended vacation! An uncrowded beach on Phuket. The footprints are mine.
