Reader objects to plans for Don Maynard Park

We are now in another fight with town council.

The park on Gale street was named after a well known citizen of Almonte Don Maynard. He was a high school teacher for I believe over 30 years worked on parks and recreation How proud his family and friends were with this dedication and what a slap in the face to now want to take that away.

Park

This is the second time we are having to fight for this park ( which the developer had to put aside for green space) we now have beautiful mature trees there is a garden that the Lanark Support group come to every Week and weed to enjoy a day out.

We have many new families with children that have within the last year or two have moved here, Holy Name use this park as well.It is a beautiful PARK.

The council want to talk heritage and keep Almonte green by selling this Don Maynard park to build houses seems to be contradicting this. When we already have a large number of houses being built is this council all about money.

We the tax payers of this town do not want to have houses built in Don Maynard Park.

Please come out to the meeting Aug 9 and support this part of our heritage at Mississippi Mills Council Chamber, 3131 Old Perth Road Almonte

Thank you Gloria (Van Dusen) Leonard a life long resident of Almonte as were my parents, and now my children and grand children.
