Staff reductions at the Almonte General Hospital are upsetting local residents

Almonte General HospitalSeven full time registered practical nursing positions were eliminated between Rosamond Unit and Med/Surg Unit.  some of these nurses have worked at the hospital for 25 years! There is sure to be a subsequent reduction of some part-time positions as well.

Morale is low as this move by the hospital will affect ALL nursing staff – eg. instead of 4 nurses on day shift on Med/Surg there will be only 3 carrying the patient load.  All nurses believe that patient care will definitely be impacted, despite reassurances by management that it won’t.  Our little hospital has such a wide reputation for its caring staff, in particular after surgery.

Monday Mar 16th at noon, there is a RALLY scheduled to protest these nursing job cuts.

This is a message to the Liberal Prov. Health Minister whose dept funds the hospital.
