What’s the best part of going to a movie? It’s certainly not the phone ringing halfway through, the internet giving up on you, or the dog needing out. It’s anticipating a shared experience of a film you likely wouldn’t see in a chain theatre; it’s sitting quietly in the centre of the story with no interruptions. What’s not to enjoy?
The Mississippi Mills Film Society is offering their second movie of the series on October 27 when they will be screening “The Monk and the Gun”, a drama set in Bhutan. This unique story delves into the beginnings of democracy in that country as a young monk strives to hang on to his beliefs. The scenery alone is worth the viewing, and combined with the interaction of the monk and an American treasure hunter, this film is a treasure itself.
Coming on the heels of Thanksgiving and the toes of the American election, it is a timely don’t- miss production.
Catch it on October 27, 2 p.m. in the St. Andrew’s United Church in Pakenham. Tickets are $15.00, available through www.ticketsplease.ca . Take a friend; make it a movie date!
