TransCanada's plan to use pipelines to get western oil to eastern refineries affects Mississippi Mills

by Shaun McLaughlin

TransCanada Pipelines plans to change one of its gas lines to oil to get western oil to eastern refineries. That line runs through Mississippi Mills (mostly in Pakenham). A  TCP spokesperson will address Council June 4 at about 7 PM.

TransCanada is currently conducting a so-called “binding open season” to solicit input on its proposed 4,400 km Energy East Pipeline Project, which would see extensions and modifications to existing pipelines, including sections running through Eastern Ontario. No details are available yet as to exactly what changes are proposed here.

This Globe & Mail article describes the proposal in more detail.
