Bob Lesser sent us these great shots he took last night of meteors streaking across the local sky. Says Bob:
Tonight’s Perseid meteor shower peaks this evening and promises to be the most spectacular since 2009, with an outburst that could yield up to 200 meteors per hour. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is for mostly cloudy conditions this evening, with the possibility of thunder storms early into Friday morning, when viewing will be at its peak with the moon having set. If tonight’s weather isn’t co-operative, meteors will continue to provide a show for the next several nights. We live just outside Almonte and the town lights, although still a factor, nicely control their spread and permitted these photographs to be taken early this morning. With the cooling temperature, it was a great time sitting back on the lounge chair and watching the show.
