Almonte District High School Wins 2019 EOSSAA Senior Boys’ A Basketball Championship

Almonte District High School (ADHS) won the 2019 EOSSAA Senior Boys’ A Basketball Championship, held February 20-21 in Elgin at Rideau District High School.

Almonte defeated Brockville’s St. Mary Catholic High School 69-56 to win the championship.

ADHS Coach Dan Hickey said the victory was truly a team effort.

“We came up big defensively against St. Mary’s but also managed to put up 69 points for the win,” he said. “Brendan Hudson and Krischan Welk owned the boards. Liam Hickey and Micah Della Foresta provided most of the offensive scoring, and Jonah Lee was a defensive machine.”

This is the second straight year ADHS is heading to OFSAA.

The event involved the top secondary school teams from across Eastern Ontario, including ADHS and St. Lawrence Secondary School of Cornwall who won the bronze medal.
