Dear Editor,
I’ve come to realize that I miss the “Progressive” Conservatives.
In 2003 the Progressive Conservative Party was renamed the Conservative Party of Canada resulting in a change in philosophy and deed.
No more were the likes Bill Davis, Dalton Camp, Flora MacDonald, Joe Clark or Kim Campbell influencing the political agenda. People who were sensible and kind and had integrity. People, who I believe, would have supported an inquiry on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and who would have taken quick action to welcome refugees without adding fear to the equation. People who, like Progressive Conservative Brian Mulroney — named the ‘Greenest Canadian Prime Minister’ for his strong environmental stance — would have encouraged Canadian scientists to explore the issue of climate change and publish their findings.
To quote Joni Mitchell, “You don’t know what you’ve got ’till it’s gone”.
