We know as Canadians, that when tragedy strikes out country, communities rally together in love and support to help those in need. By contrast, it saddens me to hear of the recent bickering, name-calling, and seeds of division being sown throughout our community. I wonder what those that have gone before us might think. Would they look down on us and give us a thumbs-up, or would they shake their heads in dismay over all our quarrelling?
We can do better. We can overcome divisions of “us” and “them.” And we can show the rest of the country that we are better than all this. Let’s work together to keep the friendly town of Almonte friendly.
