Almonte Lawn Bowling Club is off to a strong start with the Yard Sale May 16th which saw a lot of people to the club house for a treasure hunt. Money raised at the sale is earmarked to support facility upkeep and improvements in the coming months.
The regular season started last week with Monday, Wednesday, and Friday bowling at 1 :30 pm. Though the weather has still been cool and rainy, it didn’t stop keen players from practising their game, and enjoying reuniting with friends. This coming Wednesday, May 27th is our annual Spring potluck supper and General Meeting. All members, returning and new, are welcome, so bring a dish to share and come out to the Club House, 157 Robert Street, Almonte, at 6 pm, meeting to convene after supper. Start of games will change to 6:30 pm in June. In order to facilitate starting on time, participants are asked to arrive at the bowling greens 15 minutes before start time so that teams can be organized.
This past weekend, an Open House was held to welcome prospective new members to the club. On hand were experienced club members and coaches, ready to explain the game and offer demonstrations of the sport. Several interested public attended, and we look forward to seeing them back for lessons prior to joining in the organized games.
