Snow in Almonte next week — movie snow that is

by Brent Eades

Well, this is a big surprise — another Christmas movie is being filmed in Almonte.

This is — what? — the fourth Christmas movie to be filmed in town over the past several years? It does say something about our town that when movie-makers want a location that cries out ‘perfect small-town Christmas’, they send their convoys of actors, cameras and equipment to us.

The latest movie, titled A Christmas Getaway, starts shooting on Mill Street and Little Bridge Street on Tuesday. The plot is described below in the notes from the production company.

The movie is directed by Megan Follows, who many readers will remember as the lead in the CBC’s 1985 production of ‘Anne of Green Gables’.

Apparently pseudo-snow will start appearing on downtown streets as of Monday.
