Hard-working volunteers provided all the support for the event, including a delicious hot chili lunch, accompanied by dinner rolls donated by Baker Bob.

Lively music during the curling games added an authentic Celtic touch to the day. Musicians and Jam participants included fiddlers Bob Davidson and Arlene Probert, Charlie Dunlap on guitar, Art Solomonian on the bodhran, and Jane Torrance on spoons.

Along with the many door prizes awarded, there was a draw for a pair of Senators tickets, donated by Jeff Kealey and won by Nathalie Cleroux. The winner of the coveted “Best Costume” award was the team of Kayla Brunton, Kendra Brunton, Kelsey Brunton and Ainsley Gardner, who came adorned in traditional Celtic attire, wearing kilts and with roses pinned to their sashes! Following fierce competition, the “Closest to the Button” award was won by Kayla Brunton.

Thanks to the efforts of the organizers, volunteers and participants, the day was a huge success and raised over $900 for this year’s Celtfest.

Fundraising helps the Celtfest Society maintain its policy of “Admission by donation,” allowing everyone to celebrate the music and dance of the Valley’s Celtic heritage. Mark your calendars―the dates for Almonte Celtfest 2014 are July 4, 5 and 6!
