During recent discussions with friends and colleagues, the lack of new apartment construction in Almonte was raised. Home construction appears booming but new rental accommodation seems nonexistent.
Many in our age group, 70s – 80s, who wish to exit homeownership and remain living in Almonte, find a meager selection of modern apartment accommodation. Carleton Place has a far greater choice of such rental opportunities, but the general consensus was that we wish to remain in Almonte, the Friendly Town. This was our original retirement choice, where we made new friends, joined social groups, volunteered in community life and enjoyed our desired small-town lifestyle.
The 2021 Almonte resident population statistics identify approximately one-third of our residents as 65+. How does Almonte promote itself as a viable apartment construction opportunity?
