My name is Josh Thompson, and I’m 16 years old.
A year ago, I began plans to take part in an expedition into the Arctic Circle with a hundred other people my age from around the world, through an organization called Students On Ice. In a few days, those plans will become reality as I leave Ottawa with the rest of the students and staff to begin our journey!

While I make my final preparations to leave, I would like to once again thank this community for all the support I have received through donations, fundraising events, and other means too many to count. I would also like to give some information on how anyone interested can follow myself and the rest of the students on the expedition.

If you’d like to see a map of where we will be going and what each location will entail, here is a website which outlines the trip. There isn’t any internet connection on the ship, however, messages written and photos taken by everyone onboard will be relayed via satellite back to mainland, where they will be posted daily to this webpage as the expedition progresses. I’ll make sure to write back as frequently as I can, and I will have more photos and stories to share when I return. Thank you all again for everything.
Warmly (for one more day),
Josh
