An Irish bookseller visits Mill Street Books – February 16-18

by Ann Shea, owner of Mill Street Books

As part of the Canadian and European Booksellers Associations, we are delighted to be participating in the Rise Exchange Programme, and hosting an Irish Bookseller in our shop for a few days this February!

RISE Booksellers Exchange offers passionate booksellers the chance to spend a few days immersed in a foreign bookshop, share experiences, exchange best practices, and build lasting connections.

We have been paired with Ruth McCarthy, a twenty year old bookseller, born and raised in Limerick, Ireland. She has been selling books for three and a half years at O’Mahony’s Booksellers, while also attending college at University of Limerick, studying English and Sociology. Her favourite genres include: YA, literary fiction, fantasy and history.  She also runs the social media accounts for the shop.

While in Almonte, she is hoping to learn about children’s bookselling , local fiction, non-fiction and history. She will also be learning about our bestsellers, and the importance of community to our shop. She will be sharing her knowledge and love of Irish fiction during her stay. You may have noticed that we have stocked up on our Irish Authors in preparation for her arrival!

We invite you to drop by and give her a warm  Friendly Town Welcome during her stay!
