Mississippi Mills Chamber of Commerce launches its fall season

Fore! Chamber Golf Tournament

Adrian Ayotte presents winners trophies to Guido Patrice and his team.

On August 29th, over forty golfers turned out for the Chamber’s annual golf tournament at the Mississippi Golf Club in Appleton.  We couldn’t have asked for better weather for the golfing and top honours for the afternoon went to Guido Patrice and his team with a sizzling score of 63!  Heather Sorgat and Brad Smithson collected the awards for longest drive while Kathi Norton and Guido Patrice won the closest-to-the-hole contest.  Thanks to Adrian Ayotte of Reliable Heating for both sponsoring and organizing the tournament again this year.

The September Mixer

On Wednesday, September 19th, we kicked off the new mixer season with a terrific talk from Mark Cawley of theOttawa Community Loan Fund.  Mark’s discussion on “Herding Cats”, focused on the challenges of the relationship between the entrepreneur (the cat) and the advisor (the herder) and the need to be aware of the differences in temperament.  “Cat”, Kat Kosk, floral designer and owner of Blumen Studio on Parkdale Avenue in Ottawa, told us how working with Mark helped her to learn the “numbers” side of her business and the value of having a business plan.

In answer to a question from the floor, Mark gave a quick summary of the key questions a business plan must answer.  A number of people wanted see in written form and you can get a copy here.
